WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION i BANNIN SHIELD FINAL. WIN FOR CARTERTON. The Wairarapa Hockey Association’s senior fixtures were concluded on Saturday afternoon when Kiwi and Carterton met in the final of the “Bannin Shield” knockout competition. After a very interesting display of fast hockey Carterton proved the victors by 5/3.

Carterton were first to settle down and had Kiwi defending hard in the first 15 minutes. The defence held and Kiwi took a turn at attack. Kiwi were first to score, but Carterton soon evenup and a few minutes later added two more goals to lead by 3/1 at the interval.

Kiwi set a hot pace on changing over and had Carterton in trouble on i many occasions. Leete goaled from a melee to make the score 3/2, but soon after Jackson goaled from a penalty corner. Kiwi were playing the better hockey at this stage and were very unlucky not to score. Both teams goaled again and the final whistle sounded with the score, Carterton 5, Kiwi 3. Messrs Moor and Fisher were the referees. COLE BURGESS CUP. SEMI-FINAL WON BY COLLEGE. On the Carterton grounds the semifinal of the Cole Burgess Cup matches was played between College and Carterton. This game was very evenly contested and was in doubt right up to the final whistle, in fact, College scored the winning goal right on time to win by 4/3. College and Wesley will meet again in the'final next Saturday. WOMEN'S HOCKEY. KIA TOA CUP. . The semi-final of the Kia Toa Cup competition was play on the Lansdowne grounds on Saturday between Excelsior and Kiwi. Kiwi took the field with two players short, while Excelsior fielded a team which contained several juniors. Kiwi worked very hard in the first spell and led by 1/0 In the second spell, however, they completely collapsed and Excelsior ran out winners by 5/1. Excelsior will thus meet Kia Ora in the final next Saturday. College and College Old Girls had a great tussle in the semi-final for the Morris Cup. Both teams were evenly matched and play was full of excite--ment from start to finish.’ College got the verdict by 1/0 and will meet Excelsior in the final next Saturday.
