CURING SHEEPSKINS

A SIMPLE METHOD. ....... ■- f A correspondent says she has cured dozens of sheep and calfskins by the following method and they are as soft as kid when finished. Scrape the skins clean and then simply stretch them on a floor or wall, tacking them in place. The floor is the best, because none of the “curing” mixture is then wasted. Rub with kerosene until wet all over; then spread about 11b of baking soda over the skin and rub it in. Leave for about a week, rubbing two or three times during the week.*Then pull off any loose inner skin and rub with a brick till soft and pliable. Such rugs always lie flat on the floor.
