WAIRARAPA HARRIERS
TEN-MILE CHAMPIONSHIP
TITLE GOES TO W. PULLAR.
WHO ALSO WINS SHAW ROSE BOWL.
Weather conditions were fair for the Wairarapa District 10 mile championship harrier title race on Saturday afternoon. W. A. C. Pullar, Wellington Provincial champion, won the title, winning easily from G. Gregory (Masterton) in 55 minutes 49 seconds, compared with 58 minutes taken by the winner last year. Ten harriers lined up in drizzling rain at the Park OVal to be sent away by the starter, Mr C. K. Long. Connecting with the Te Ore Ore bridge the trail followed the Castlepoint highway for some distance, leaving the road to cut away to the left across paddocks. The papers, laid by Messrs J. J. Hunter and R. Baikie then contacted the Bideford road, followed the road up to Mr Geo Shaw’s property around Mr Shaw’s residence and back home, to follow the main highway down to town, over the Allen Memorial bridge, finishing with one lap around the Oval. Forging out to the front just off the Park Oval, W. Pullar (Masterton) established an early lead, which he substantially increased. G. Gregory (Masterton) ran a splendid race but could not catch Pullar. Burgess (Kiatere) ran strongly to finish just behind Gregory, followed by R. N. Shaw (Masterton). Shaw ran a good hard race, and was unlucky not* to have been further up. Searancke (Kiatere) finished strongly, followed by G. Frederickson (Masterton) and A. Adderson (Kiatere).
