GERMANS AROUSED

TAKING ATTACK ON WEST WALL MOST SERIOUSLY Violent Activity of Heavy Guns I SHELLING LINES OF COMMUNICATION MANY PLANES TRANSFERRED FROM POLISH FRONT (Ey Telegraph.—Press Association— Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12,15 p.m.) LONDON, September 15. “The Times” Paris correspondent states that it is evident from the continuous violent activity of heavy guns that the Germans are taking the attack most seriously and are doing their utmost to hamper the .movement by shelling lines of communication and likely assembly points. Many German planes from the Polish front are reported to be appearing in the West. The British United Press military correspondent reports that fighting near the Luxembourg fronter has been extraordinarily fierce. Today’s Drench communique indicates that the region mentioned, north-east of Sierek, has been stubbornly fought over since the German counter-offensive on September 10. It is now possible to reveal that the attack aimed at. dislodging the Drench from their advanced positions across the frontier. It actually resulted in the Germans penetrating Drench soil. The “Petit Parisien” reveals, however, that the Drench counter-attacked and drove out the German advance posts, since which the Germans have not trodden on an inch of France. On the contrary, the Drench Army is well entrenched from the region north-east of Sierek to the north of Lauterbourg, all within German territory. POSITIONS STRENGTHENED In Spite of Enemy Reaction GERMAN AIR ATTACK REPULSED (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) PARTS, September 15. An official communique states: “We have strengthened the positions taken in previous days and repelled counterattacks, inflicting losses on the enemy.
