Mr W. B. Bluck, Otorohanga, has been appointed a member of the Waikato Hospital Board. Mr Edgar T. Ouston has been appointed deputy to the registrar of marriages, births and deaths for the Pongaroa district. The Rev. F. C. Truman, a scouter associated with the Boy Scout Movement in New Zealand for more than 20 years, has also been awarded a Certificate of Merit. Mr A. H. McKane (Labour) was elected unopposed to the Greymouth Borough Council to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Mr A. H. Paterson, states a Greymouth telegram. 'The following promotions arc announced in the Hawke’s Bay Regiment: Captain C. M. Williamson. Ist Battalion, to be major; Lieutenants J. V/. Baih and W. Bourke, Ist Battalion. Gisborne, to be captains.
