WOOL PURCHASE
ACTION BY GREAT BRITAIN ANTICIPATED. ( REGARDING NEW ZEALAND CLIP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. It is generally believed that the British Government’s arrangement with the Federal Government of Australia for co-operation in securing wool supplies for the period of the war will be extended to embrace the New Zealand wool clip. If and when such an arrangement with the New Zealand Government is entered into, it will be following the precedent established in November, 1916, when the British Government arranged for the purchase of the Dominian clip and the remainder of the Australian supply. Full provision was made on that occasion for New Zealand manufacturers’ requirements of wool. The purchase price of Australian and New Zealand greasy wool for 1916-17 was made on the basis of the average prices realised during the 1913-14 season, plus 55 per cent.
