COMING-OF-AGE PARTY (“Times-Age” Special.) • A very enjoyable party was given on Saturday evening at Mr John McKay’S residence, “Karakanui,” in honour of the coming-of-age of Mi' Jack Shirtcliffe. The hostesses were Mesdames John McKay and J. Perry. A delicious savoury supper was served and the beautifully decorated birthday cake was made and forwarded by Mr Shirtcliffe’s mother who lives in Timaru. The toast of the guest was proposed by Mr J. McKay. Among the many guests present vJere Mr and Mrs C. Meredith, Mr and Mrs Sinclair McKay, Mr and Mrs C. Judd, Mr and Mrs Burch, Misses S. Napier, M. Napier and G. Napier, M. Heckler, W." Smith and Messrs N. Napier, W. and A. Heckler, M. Smith, Hylton, George and W. Thompson, GOLF MATCH MAKAREWA DEFEATED. During the weekend the Makarewa golf team visited Alfredton and were defeated by the local team after a very enjoyable afternoon's golf.
