WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

ALFREDTON MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Alfredton Women’s Institute Mrs Hull presided. There was a fair attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship, and the recital, of the prayer for peace. Arrangements were made for a Flower Show to be held at the October meeting. Mrs W. Rolls gave a demonstration on the making of crocheted silk cushions.

The competitions resulted as follows: Steamed pudding. Mrs V. Payne 1. Mrs Weston 2, Mrs E. McLean 3. Best bloom, Mrs J. Algie 1 and 2, Mrs G. Napier 3. Mops made from wool, Mrs E. McLean 1, Mrs Weston 2. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs' Rolls for her interesting demonstration.

Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, MesdamOs E. McLean, G. Nanier and Horton.

The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
