The return match between Eketahuna and Carterton Clubs to have been fired on the Carterton range tonight has been abandoned owing to the petrol restriction regulations. BOBBY CALVES COLLECTION IN WAIRARAPA. So far this season well over 11,000 bobby calves have been slaughtered at the Waingawa freezing works. The factory season is a long way from its flush. Consequently many more calves will yet be collected. It is anticipated that another 9000 will be dealt with. These calves are taken from dairy farms all over the Wairarapa. Personal Items. The friends of Mrs Nimodt, of South Carterton. will be pleased to learn she has recovered from her illness. She has left the Masterton Hospital and returned to her home again. Mr and Mrs F. Barr and family, who have been on a fortnight’s motoring holiday in the north, have returned to Carterton. They visited Rotorua and other places of interest. They had a pleasant trip from Napier by rail car over the newly constructed railway to Wairoa and back. After leaving Napier they went by way of Taupo to Rotorua. Altogether the holiday was very interesting.
