Two resignations were accepted. The Featherston County Council wrote advising that considerable trouble had been caused through stock wandering on the Tauherenikau river bed and getting on the highway through the racecourse gates, and asking that the gates be kept shut. It was pointed out that shutting the gates wqpld not have the desired effect as cattle did not come &fl' the racecourse property, but were getting on the high ■ way from the north side of the bridge. It was decided to suggest to the Conn ■ cil that a gate be placed in the locality. The New Zealand Racing Conference wrote advising that the levy for the current year was £143 3s 2d. An application for a trainer’s license from L. A. Crawford, Featherston, was recommended. Plans and specifications were received from the architect for the suggested improvements at the course to provide accommodation for 600 persons. Tn view of the present situation it was resolved that the idea be abandoned for the present. Personal. Miss Barnard, Temuka, is a visitor to Featherston and is the guest of Mrs A. S.
