A communique from Berlin states: 1 ‘ The Polish retreat along- the entire frontier continues. Supported by the Air Force, our Eastern Army has kept on the heels of the enemy, forcing engagements. Nowy Saez has been taken, the Dunajec River crossed and Cracow occupied without fighting. Marshal Pilsudski’s tomb was accorded military honours.

The Germans, after the capture of Kielce, are advancing through the western sector of Lysa arid Gora. Further north, nearing Tomaszow and Lodz, they are mopping up the scattered Corridor army. North-west of Gruziaez ninety guns have been captured with two divisions, and one cavalry brigade, one tank battalion and two ride battalions destroyed. Survivors escaped by swimming the Vistula without ecpiijnnent. East of the Vistula the Torun-Strasboiirg highway has been crossed and bridges thrown across the Drewenz River. Troops advancing from East Prussia reached the Narew River al Pulstusk and Rozan.
