BRITISH SUPPORT

“INFINITELY STRONGER” THAN IN 1914 ACCORDING TO GOVERNMENT SOURCES. TROOPS LANDING RAPIDLY. PARIS, September 6. Though details as to place and numbers of British soldiers landing in France are not given, Government sources declared that the British Army will be able to give “infinitely stronger” support to the French forces than it did in 1914. The Paris correspondent of the *‘New York Times” says British troops are landing rapidly in France, according to an official spokesman. He gave no figures. A radio report states that the Germans are bringing up reinforcements to the Rhine and Moselle. They are arriving from the interior of Germany. A report from Berlin received from New York stated that the population of the Rhineland is being evacuated. AGAINST PROFITEERING DECREES ISSUED IN FRANCE. PARIS, September 6. To prevent profiteering and to maintain the stability of prices the Ministry of National Economy forbids activity by middlemen between producer, dealer and consumer. Offenders will be reported and prosecuted. Shopkeepers are giving special prices to soldiers. A decree authorises a 60-hour week in the national defence industries and a maximum of 72 hours in the auxiliary national defence industries and public services.
