MAORI CONCERT
AT MASTERTON OPERA HOUSE. Tomorrow morning the box plans will open at Perry’s for this wellorganised Maori concert to be staged at the Opera House on September 13 and 14 next. The performers are well accustomed to their parts. As the concert is in aid of funds to restore the Papawai Meeting House, near Greytown, the Maoris are very keen and have taken great interest in their work at the rehearsals. It is the ambition of the promoters to raise at least £lOO from the two performances and by the way the tickets are selling it looks as if there will be no difficulty in raising that amount. Two years ago a Maori concert was held to raise funds for the Te Ore Ore Meeting House, and hundreds were unable to gain admission. That performance was described as ‘•thrilling and excellent,” the Opera House being packed to the doors. The concert on September 13 and 14 is being organised by the same managers, and the public can rest assured that this performance will excel the one of two years ago in stage setting and performers. Patrons will be well advised to book early at W. G. Perry’s.
