FEATHERSTON

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT FUND OPENED. (“Times-Age” Special.) - A meeting of combined executives from the Red Cross, Girl Guides and Scouts committees was held last night at the residence of Dr. G. S. Sharp. There were present: Mesdames Sharp (in the chair), D. H. S. Riddiford, C. J. Carlyon, Houston, J. G. McKenzie, V. Bergh, J. E. Willett (secretary), Misses Card, McTaggart, Messrs. Willett and G. Harkness. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. W. Matthews, H. Bloxam, H. Clark and Mr. A. Cook. An emergency committee was formed as follows:—Mesdames Sharp, Willett, Bloxam, Riddiford, Carlyon, McKenzie, Misses Card and McTaggart, Messrs. Harkness and Willett. It was decided to open a subscription list today for equipment for the Red Cross emergency cupboard. The list will be lodged at the Borough Council office. It was decided to keep the list open for a fortnight only. Miss McTaggart was appointed convenor for the Featherston canvassing, Mrs. D. H. S. Riddiford for South Featherston, Mrs. Bergh for Tauherenikau, Mrs. R. W. Matthews for Western Lake and Mrs. Campbell Pearce for Kahutara. It was decided to place an order for material for the cupboard, the goods to be purchased locally where possible. The depot is to be at the Anzac Hall subject to the council’s approval. PAHAUTEA GATHERING EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. There was a good attendance at the euchre party and dance held in Pahautea Hall on Saturday night. The following were the prize-win-ners: Ladies: Miss M. Bargh 1, Mrs. Matenga 2; men, Mr. H. 'True 1, Mr. W. Juno 2. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. W. Juno and Mrs. Juno. Personal. Mrs. N. A. Watson, Napier, is visiting her son, Mr. R. F. Watson, Fitzherbert Street.
