FIRST FRENCH COMMUNIQUE OPERATIONS BEGUN BY ALL FORCES. EVACUATION MEASURES IN LONDON. The following announcements made from the short-wave station at Daventry (England) have been rebroadcast by the New Zealand National stations. The first official French communique states that operations have begun by all forces. No further details have been received. The Admiralty reports naval activity on all seas but there are no major operations to report. • Six hundred thousand women and children have been evacuated from London without a single casualty. The evacuation from London of all children, expectant mothers and blind people has been completed. GREEK SHIP MINED, A report from Copenhagen states that a Greek steamer, bound from Antwerp to Leningrad was sunk by a mine. There were no casualties. Another ship presumably mined was an unknown Danish cutter, which was reported to have been blown up.
Although it has not been confirmed a report from Toklo states that the Japanese Government has declared its intention to remain neutral in the present conflict. The first Slovakia units are already under fire. According to an announcement from a Polish source German aircraft destroyed. a Polish village by incendiary bombs.
