GOLF COMPETITION FIRST ROUND RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The first rounds of the championships were played over the week-end under ideal conditions. In the senior division some good golf was played and in some games the result was in doubt up to the last hole. H. W. Feast beat F. C. Bunny, B. Kiernan beat T. G. R. Ingley, E. Feast beat T. Nelson, J. C. Feast beat E. Maddison. , In the intermediate section there were several surprises. It was not expected that G. Brunton would beat J. W. Tate, or that A. Rhodes would beat C. Stunnel; N. McLeod and A. Carter fought their game till the 17th hole. G. Brunton beat J. W. Tate; A. Rhodes beat C. Stunnel; N. McLeod beat A. Carter. Tn the junior section, Dr. Oakey defeated the favourite, G. Te Whaite. C. S. Shedden beat S. Brice; E. Williams beat C. Barch, W. Kilgour beat A. G. Peterson, A. Oakey beat G. Te Whaiti. .MINIATURE RIFLES TEAM TO MEET MASTERTON. The following is the Greytown Miniature Rifle team to fire a challenge match with Masterton on Wednesday evening, when cars will leave Greytown at 7.15 o’clock: R. Tilson, H. Gray, G. Gray, Miss C. Grey, Miss A. Gray, Miss G. Gray, J. Yeomans, R. Ingley, W. Fuge, G. Rhodes, Miss L. Gray. Personals. Mr. and Mrs. J. Robb have returned from a holiday motor tour. Miss Stephens has returned from Napier. Miss M, O’Connor, who has been staying with Mrs. J. Kiernan, has returned to Wellington.
