“PEACEFUL REVISION” PREVENTED NAZI AIMS AGAINST POLAND. •CONSIDERABLE ADVANCES REPORTED. (Received This Daj r , 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, September 3. A German broadcast announced Britain’s declaration of war by reading an answer which allegedly was given to London by Germany: “The German Government and nation refuse to accept or fulfil ultimatum demands from the British Government.” Germany, it was added, did not intend to destroy Poland, but merely sought to rectify her frontiers. Britain had made a peaceful revision impossible. Britain was responsible for the Polish terror against the German minority and the violation of the Danzig Statute by Poland. Britain repudiated Signor Mussolini’s plan. ' “We will reply to each attack with equal arms and in the same form,” the broadcast declared. The German wireless announces that the Reich forces made an extensive advance on all fronts last night and in the early hours of today. The Warte River was crossed near Wiclun, which is a railway town in the Lodz Province, about ten miles from the frontier. Polish troops isolated in the Corridor unsuccessfully tried to break through.

A later German communique announced the capture of Zcestochewa and that the troops were swiftly advancing.

The Polish Embassy in London denied reports that the Germans had cut the Corridor.
