Among the entries is the Ringmaster Midine e g 9 Ringcraft, bred and owned by Mr G. M. Currie. Thls ol ' s ® ' ® . ly regarded in well informed circles and is expected to p g The following are details concerning the rest of the field:—

Silver Shekel, by Inflation —Princess Lajea, is at Awapuni under C. Thomson and he is owned by Mr D. Bridewell.

Lucky Lulu is a brown filly by Foxbridge—Lady Lulu and is owned by Mr L. W. Davis. Interest will be centred round Indore if she is produced, as she is full-sister to Baran, being by Bulandshar —Clemency. Indore is a bay and she is also trained by J. H. Jefferd for Mr A. B, Williams.

Lady Govern, a chestnut by Leighon —Misgovern, is trained for Mr E. N. Cunningham by D. McCauley at Trentham. The filly was passed at the National sales at 65gns.

Gold Hind, a chestnut filly by Myo-

sotis —Martial Lady, was purchased at the yearly sales by the Smith Brothers, Taihape, for 70gns, and was then secured by Mr Stormont.

Uvedale, by Leighon—Humorada, is owned by Mr W. V. Cathro and trained at Wanganui by W. Rayner. The dam bred in Australia by Comedy King—Lady Fisher, by Cuirassier, was imported by Mr J. J. McGrath but the filly referred to was bred by Mr Cathro, who bought Humorada.

Beechnut by Rulanut —Altar, is a gelding owned and trained by T. R. George. He is a stablemate of Beau Courier, and was secured cheaply by his owner.

Barry Boy, by Hunting Song—Lady Whirlwind, is a bay gelding owned by Mr F. H. Walker, who secured him for 140gns.

Beau Courier, by Beau Fere— Zarisee, is half-brother to Dollar Bill

and Free Gold, both speedy individu als. He is a black colt, bred and own ed by Mr T. Newman, Nelson. Beau Leon, by the same sire from Lady Bede is owned by Mr E. H. Click - sey, his breeder and is half-brother to Galilee. ■

Miss Hallomet, bred and owned by Mr J. B. Cresswell, is a chestnut by Night Fox—Hallomet, by Day Comet. —Avanti. by Hallowmas. Messrs P. A. and T. O’Neill will bo represented by Belle Cane, a brown daughter of Beau Pere and Duck s Egg, a half-sister to Admiral Drake and Francis Drake. Lady Benno, who is owned by her trainer, Mr D. McCauley, is by Gustavo —Traction. This concludes the list. ABOUT HORSES NAME BESTOWED ON NOVICE. The three-year-old gelding by Surveyor from Jolly Princess in J. M. Buchanan's stable has had the name Royal Son bestowed on him. This novice is a nice mover, but is not being hurried and may need a bit of time before he reaches his- best. Merry March, winner of the first division of the Longbeach Hack Handicap at Riccarton, is a solidly-built gelding by Nightmarch from Kilmiss, and after being raced by Mr C. Louisson, Palmerston North, for whom he was trained at Riccarton by P. Mason, he was sold to his present owner for 90gns. Shortly after the sale Merry March showed promise of an early return by filling a second placing, but soreness then came against him, and he had to be put aside. He was recom - missioned only a few weeks ago, and to win a race with a restricted preparation stamps him as a very useful galloper. He is quite sound in the meantime, and if he can be kept in his present order-he will win some important races, especially over a distance, as his breeding suggests stamina. His dam, Kilmiss, was by Kilboy from Marty by Martagon. Marty’s other progeny included Hyllus, Hymarty, Early Dawn and Rascal.

Brayton, the dam of The Wrecker, was a discard from the Elderslie Stud, and when apparently barren was made a gift to the late Mr J. O’Brien, who bred her to Shambles and got The Wrecker. He is a half-brother to Historic, Bonnetter, and other more than useful performers.

Ruatiti will not be seen out at the Wanganui meeting, as although he looks in great heart he has done very little work. The Limond gelding is such a long strider that he needs a track like Trentham or Ellerslie to show of his best. When he is wound up Ruatiti is likely to add further to his winning record, as he is well above the average.

Since joining T. Tucker’s team at Ellerslie, Royal Huntress has not been overtaxed, though she will be ready to race at the spring meetings. This filly displayed promising speed in a work-out over four furlongs during the week, and a maiden event should not be beyond her later on.
