Miss Lineen, of Palmerston North, is on a visit to Masterton and is staying at the Empire Hotel. Miss L. Cocker, Albert Street, Masterton. who had been visiting Auckland, will return to Masterton today. Mrs A. C. Major, Upper Plain, who had been visiting Gisborne, will return to Masterton today.
Miss Thelma Major, Upper Plain, has been spending the holidays with her sister, Mrs A. Rutherford, Invercargill.
Miss J. Sellar, Renall Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Palmerston North.
Mrs E. Foreman, Gladstone, has returned, from a visit to Auckland and Napier.
Mrs Piper, of Epsom, Auckland, who has been spending a holiday in Greytown, returned home today. Mrs Hindley, who has been spending the holidays in Napier and Pahirtua, has returned to Carterton.
A wedding of interest to Carterton residents will be solemnised tonight at Carterton. when Miss Barber will be married to Mr Bone of Waikato.
Mr and Mrs A. P. Bennett, Renall Street. Masterton, are spending the weekend with Sir Alfred and Lady Ransom, Dannevirke.
Mrs Hart, who has returned from a visit to Wellington, is spending a few days with Mrs C. N. Stilburn, South Road, Mastertcn.
Miss Lydia Thompson, Dunedin, is spending the term holidays with her mother, Mrs A. T. Thompson, Upper Plain.
Miss P. Tulley, of the staff of the W.F.C.A., at Greytown, has been appointed to a position on the Wairarapa Electric Power Board at Carterton. ■’----- Miss Eleanor Rose, who relieved the Plunket nurse in Petone in April, and is now in Te Kuiti, has been appointed matron of the Stewart Karitane Hospital, Wanganui. Miss' E. A. Gaze, of Wanganui, who has been spending the school vacation with her parents in Carterton, returned today in readiness to recommence her teaching duties next week. Miss Stella Polson, who has been spending the school vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs Polson, Bannister Street, left today for Tongariro where ■she is engaged in teaching. At the Wellington musics? and elocutionary competitions last night, Miss Nona Mulvey, of Masterton, was second in the piano solo reading at sight and highly commended in the Robert Parker memorial piano solo. In the girl’s character recitation (12 to 16 years) Miss Joan Grantham, Masterton, was commended. In the vocal solo, impersonation of a film star, Miss Beulah Hirst, of Masterton, was third.
