Two pennants are to be flown on Pain and Kershaw’s flagstaff to indicate the position of the Queens. A barometer is also to be placed in a prominent position later to register the rise of voting. The votes recorded so far are:—Gold Queen 400 votes. Green Queen 168 votes. . Personal Items. Miss J. Feist, who has been visiting her parents, returned to Hawera today. Mr and Mrs F. Tyler, of Auckland, have been the guests of Mr and Mrs Tyler, Jellicoe Street. A successful street stall was held yesterday afternoon in aid. of the Gold Queen (Miss K. Smith). The stall, which contained cakes, vegetables, etc., did brisk business. Mr John Lamb, who recently underwent an operation in a private hospital in Wellington, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. * Sir Truby King Fund. The sum of £26 15s has been subscribed to the Sir Truby King Memorial fund in Martinborough and Pirinoa.
