LONDON QUOTATIONS MUTTON MARKET FIRM. CHILLED BEEF PRICES IMPROVE. Lamb market: Prime quality firm, with slight improvement in some grades. Second quality shade easier owing to heavier supplies. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes very firm at the advanced prices owing to light stocks in store and afloat. Beef market: Frozen beef firmer on the better prices chilled. Chilled beef: Better prices this week owing to lighter supplies and good- demand. New Zealand porker pigs’: Market quiet but firm. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless bobby veal: Supplies now more plentiful. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday.- Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield Market. Compared with last week's quotations, Down and crossbred lamb 36/421bs are l-8d per lb higher; 2nd quality lamb l-8d per lb lower; wethers 48/561bs, id per lb, higher; 56/641bs, 3-8 d per lb higher; 64/721bs l-8d per lb higher; ewes u/641bs, l-8d per lb higher; 64/721bs id per lb higher; others unchanged.
