FEILDING SALE. RISE IN VALUES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, September 1. Values again were on the rise for ewe and wether mutton at today’s sale in Feilding, despite the large entry. The rest of the yarding was somewhat restricted, and no trouble was met in making a total clearance. Fat sheep: Quality was very good in the mutton pens, a further rise of about 3s a head being shown. Extra prime ewes made 31s to 35s sd, second grade 28s to 30s, good average sorts 25s 6d to 27s 9d, lighter 18s 6d to 245; extra prime wethers, 35s to 375, prime sorts 30s to 345, average weights 28s to 29s 6d, unfinished to light 19s to 27s 6d; prime hoggets 20s 6d to 21s 3d, second quality 18s to 18s lOd, others 12s to 17s. Store sheep: There was a small entry of store sheep, fair values prevailing. The chief competition was for ewe hoggets, of which some nice lines came forward. Good two-tooth ewes made 275, small 19s lOd; best ewe hoggets 26s 3d to 27s Id, second quality 23s lOd to 25s lOd, small 15s 6d to 235, blackfaced Us to 13s; small wethers 12s 7d to 14s, inferior Bs, mixed sex, best 12s Bd, others 6s 6d to 8s 8d; fat and forward wethers 235. Store cattle: Not much of attraction was offering in the cattle pens, a small representation of station lines and ordinary sorts selling at usual rates. Fat cattle: Beef made a surprising upward lift of about £2s a head for extra prime sorts. The quality was excellent and the competition keen. Extra prime Red Poll cows made £l4 15s; medium prime Hereford cows, £lO 15s to £ll 9s; lighter prime, £8 2s 6d to £9 15s; heavy prime ex-dairy cows, £7 to £8 ss; others, £5 to £6 15s; unfinished heifers, £5 15s-; vealers, 37s 6d. Dairy cattle: The market for dairy stock was keen, best sorts selling at firm rates. Good heifers nearing profit made £l5; second-quality, £9 to £10; others, £5 5s to £8; best springing cows, £lO 10s to £l2 ss; late calvers, £4 5s to £6 10s. ’ Pigs: Good weaners made 18s to 19s; small, 12s; slips, 21s to 26s 6d; stores, 32s to 38s 6d; porkers, 40s to 54s 6d. CARTERTON SALE. PRICES WELL UP TO LATE RATES. ■ Messrs Wrighth, Stephenson and Co Ltd report as follows: —A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at our Carterton Sale yesterday and was offered to a large attendance. All classes of stock sold well up to late rates and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Prices: — Sheep:—Prime fat hoggets, 22s 6d to 25s 3d; fat b.f.’s, 22s 9d to 27s Id: fat ewes, 18s 7d. 19s lOd to 255; fat and forwards b.f.’s, 19s Id to 19s 7d. Cattle: —Jersey heifers, on drop, £7 £8 10s to £9; cows on drop, £6, £6 10s, £7, £8 to £9; springing Jersey heifers, £5 to £6 10s; cows and calves, 30s to £2 6s; fat cows, £4 ss, £4 10s to £5 ss; fwd cows. £2 7s, £3 Is, to £3 17s; store cows, 33s to £2 ss; Jersey bulls, £2 to £3. Pigs:—Weaners (good), 20s to 245; ditto (medium), 16s 6d to 19s 6d; ditto (small), 14s to 16s; slips, 18s to 235; store pigs, 24s to 31s; light porkers, 32s to 375; porkers, 39s to 47s 6d; baconers, £3 to £3 19s: sow and litter, to £7; sows r.w. boar. £3 to £5.
