Local Bills were discussed by the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Seven of these measures of a non-contentious nature were accorded second readings, put through their remaining stages and passed in a relatively short time. The Wanganui Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Bia, which empowers the Wanganui Harbour Board to borrow £25 000 for harbour works and improvements, provoked a discussion, which was interrupted by the tea adjournment. The Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, stated that there would be a further opportunity to consider the Bill.
