EKETAHUNA SALE. KEEN DEMAND FOR HOGGETS. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co Ltd report on their Eketahuna sale as follows:—A good yarding of sheep and cattle came forward yesterday and were submitted to a large and representative attendance of buyers. The sheep comprised mostly wether hoggets which met with an extremely keen demand, prices realised being well in advance of late rates. A fair entry of fat and dairy cattle were also penned. Dairy cattle were easily saleable at best late rates, whilst fat cattle were readily disposed of. We quote sales as follows: — Sheep:'Wether hoggets, best, 21s 6d to 18s 2d good. 17s, 15s 6d to 14s Bd. small, 13s 7d to 9s 7d; ewe hoggets, medium, 18s 9d. small, 10s 3d; fat wethers, 23s 6d; light fat ewes, 15s. Cattle: Fat bullocks, £11; light fat cows, £5 12s to £4; store cows ex dairy, £2 15s. Dairy cattle: Cows in milk, £lO to £lO 2s 6d; springing cows. £9. £8 to £7 10s; backward calvers. £5; springing heifers, good, £9; small backward calvers, £4.
Pigs: Weaners good, 255, 245; smaller 21s to 20s.
