TRANSPORT LAW
‘ ATTACK ON AMENDING BILL. CALLED RAILWAYS PROTECTION MEASURE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Consideration was given in the House of Representatives last evening to the Transport Law Amendment Bill, the second reading of which was moved by the Minister of Transport, Mr Semple. He said the fundamental object of the Bill was to secure a grWter degree of efficiency and safety on the rOads. Liability for traffic control in counties would be taken over by the Transport Department. The case for the Opposition was opened by Mr Coates (Kaipara). who said that railway protection could be seen running all the way through the Bill. There was an encroachment on the rights of private business, for the Railways Department had been given a greater advantage than ever before.
