PRE-WEDDING PARTIES
MISS BARBER ENTERTAINED. ("Times-Age” Special ) Miss Adele Barber, whose marriage to Mr E. W. Bone will take place on Saturday evening has been the guest of honour at a number of parties during the last week. Miss Mary Skelley set the ball rolling by giving a tea party at her residence, Tyne Street, when a number of the members of the teachers’ staff were present. Each guest provided a limerick, which caused much amusement. The Badminton Club, of which Miss Barber has been a member, entertained Miss Barber at a tournament, and presented Miss Barber with, a silver sandwich tray. Miss Vina Tucker was hostess at a “kitchen tea” on Thursday last at the residence of Mrs A. Tucker, Rhodes Street. On Monday afternoon a large number of friends of the family gathered at. the residence of Mr Barber, Pembroke Street, and on behalf of the assembled guests, Mr Charles Fairbrother presented Miss Barber with a handsome enamelled brass tray. Mrs R. T. Forbes and Mrs Barret were the hostesses at a picture party at the Tivoli Theatre on Wednesday evening and later at a supper party. Handkerchiefs were the gifts on this occasion.
