GOLF DRAW FOR SATURDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following is the draw for the first round of the Carterton Golf Club’s championship to be played on the Taratahi links on Saturday next: No 1 tee: B. Booth v R. Fisher; H. Dudson v C. K. Goodin; W. Moroney v D. Smith; G. S. George v J. Steel. No 3 tee: H. Colson v J. Dwane; R. T. Forbes v A. Krahagen; R. Harrington v W. Candy; B. Beaven v V. Gustofson. The remaining members will play the first of a 3-round medal competition, two rounds to count. The draw is as under: — No 1 tee: R. Lawrence and D. Taylor; C. M. Kiddie and Fitzgerald; Hart and Roydhouse; Shankland and Hughes; Clark and Lane; Brown and Whitburn. No 17 tee: Riggs and Taverner; Smart and J. Lawrence; F. Hill and Bond; E. T. Beaven and R. Tankersley; Callender and Aplin; Jackson and S. Hilli; S. Booth and Harry. LADIES’ GAMES. Mrs Robinson and Mrs Riggs will be in charge of afternoon tea. FOOTBALL SATURDAY’S GAMES. The Carterton showgrounds will be the centre of attraction on Saturday to football enthusiasts. Two final games will 'be played, the one between Cartertbn seniors and Old Boys for the Redmond Cup and’the other between Carterton and Featherston juniors for the Pearson Cup. Both games will pe keenly contested and should be witnessed by a large number of spectators. The question is, can Carterton win the treble, the championship which they have already won. the Redmond Cup and the Pearson Cup?. Personal. Mr N. A. Rush, overseer to' the Carterton Borough. Council, has been appointed overseer to the Taihape Boi • ough Council and will take up his new duties as from October 1. , Mr J. J. Hadley’s many frienas will be pleased to know that he is able to leave his bed for a few hours each day and is now on the road to health and strength again. Mr Norman Williams, of the- local Post Office, left this morning to take up his duties as acting Postmaster at Eketahuna. The death has occurred of Mr Victor Alfred Huddleston. Epsom, at the ape of 73. He was well known as an inspector of stock for the South Auckland district of the Department of Agriculture, and made numerous friendships in all parts of the Dominion. Mr Huddleston joined the service of the department in the Blenheim district in 1893, where he remained for six years until his transfer to Hokitika as the first inspector of stock on the West Coast of the South Island. His district extended from Karamea to the Cascade. Mr. Huddleston spent six years at Hokitika before being transferred to Hunterville, thence to Carterton, Thames, Te Aroha, Te Kuiti and Auckland. After 12 years in the latter district. where he was particularly successful with the eradication of rabbits, he retired on superannuation in July of 1931. Working Bee. Members of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society are busy this afternoon removing the stumps of the pine trees recently felled on the showgrounds and otherwise clearing the grounds in preparation of the forthcoming Centennial Show. Card Evening. The weekly card evening held in the Band Room last night under the management of the Carterton Boy Scouts was fairly well attended. At the conclusion of the tourney supper was served. The prize winners were: Ladies. Mrs Banks 1, Mrs J. Finn 2; men. Mr C. E. White 1. Mr C. Holland 2. The aggregate awards for the month went to Mrs Ticehurst 1. Mrs Edwards 2, and Mrs P. Hodder 3.
