COMPANY REPORTS CENTRAL MINE AT BROKEN HILL TO CLOSE. WELLINGTON. This Day. The following cables have been received by the Stock Exchange Association. The board of directors of the Sulphide' Corporation Ltd notify that owing to the gradual depletion of ore reserves and rising costs, Central Mine Broken Hill, will permanently cease operations on November 30 unless unforeseen circumstances arise. The Hume Pipe Company. Australia, Ltd., records a net profit of £67,403. after providing for taxation. The annual meeting will be held on October 2. The directors recommend a final dividend on ordinary and preference shares of 3 : | per cent, making 71 per cent for the year. The directors of the Australian Foundation Investment Trust recommended a dividend of 41 per cent, payable on September 25. The annual meeting will be held on the same dale. The hooks will be closed from September 11 to 25 inclusive.
