Everything indicates a rapid campaign by the new Japanese Government to win British and American confidence. An officially sponsored broadcast was made to the United States yesterday, while all American residents in Japan are receiving personal letters of goodwill signed my members of the Diet asking America to help in lhe "fight against Communism, which threatens all religion." The following further members of the new Cabinet formed by General Abe are announced:— Mr Ohara, portfolio of Home Affairs and Welfare; Mr Aoki, Finance; Mr Miyagi. Justice; Mr Kawarada Education; Vice-Admiral Godah, Commerce and Industry; Mr Nagai, Communications and Railways; Mr Kanemitsu, Overseas Affairs (as distinct from foreign policy); Mr Endo, Chief Secretary to the Cabinet. GENERAL ABE’S APPEAL NATIONAL CO-OPERATION SOUGHT. CHINA “INCIDENT” AS FOCAL POINT. (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON. August 30. The correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain in Tokio says large forces have rushed to Manchukuo as lhe result of the Russian-German Pact. General Abe, in a broadcast to the nation, said: “In view of the delicacy of the international situation the Government is establishing independent diplomacy and taking measures at home and abroad, with the China incident. as a focal point, and appeals for national co-operation.”
