TALK OF PLEBISCITE
ON DANZIG AND CORRIDOR ISSUES. REPORTED ACCEPTANCE BY HITLER. (Independent Cable Service.) BERLIN. August 30. It is becoming apparent that Herr Hitler has accepted “in principle” a British suggestion for a wider European settlement than the Danzig and Polish Corridor issues. It is assumed that Herr Hitler reiterated his Danzig and Corridor demands with the emphasis on a new Anglo-German understanding. Herr Hitler apparently is ready to agree to the immediate application of the principle of self-de-termination in Danzig and the Corridor through a plebiscite. The entire Press carries inspired articles referring to the 1918 Lansing Note and President Wilson’s Fourteen Points. The newspapers also declare: “The maintenance of wrongs by the Versailles Treaty is not within the scope of the Western Powers.”
