A NEW FILM. Hal Roach has commenced production of the first of a series of Laurel and Hardy starring pictures for United Artists* release, “A Chump at Oxford.” “WHOSE WIFE” WANGER’S PRODUCTION. Walter W'anger has selected “Whose Wife” ns his first production’• on' the 1939-40 programme for United Artists. The story is by Gene”Towne and Gramm Baker, and Loretta .-Young will lave the leading feminine,role,, under the direction of Tay Garnett. Wanger’s stirring adventure-romance of American pioneering days, “Stggecoach,” with Claire Tre’yor,'. John Wayne, Andy Devine and George Bancroft, is that producer’s current release; through United Artists.
