RUGBY FOOTBALL

A JUNIOR MATCH.

MASTERTON v OPAKI. (By “Touchline.”) Master-ton defeated Opaki by G points to 3 on Saturday. The game was played in 20 minute spells. Opaki could only fibld 11 men by 1.30 p.m. and it was just on 2 o'clock when the game started. Opaki then had 11 players and the Masterton team included! several third grade lads, one, Griffin,l being an outstanding forward. Withl only four forwards to oppose them the Masterton pack had it all their own I way and soon scored two tries, neither! being converted. Two other Opaki men came on and nt half-time Opaki had a full team but could only register one try. Larsen scoring under the posts, and Morgan missing the easiest of kicks. As the seniors were waiting to go on the ground the game ended. There were some fine third grade players tn the Masterton team and even had Opaki fielded their usual players, it would have been a good game. It is practically impossible for a country team to play at 1.30 p.m. now as all are working till after 1 o’clock. Opaki players arc requested to turn out on Saturday if they wish to continue playing, otherwise the team will bo withdrawn from future fixtures.
