CHINA
AN INTERESTING ADDRESS. In the W.D.F.U. Rooms Mr A. S. Hely, tutor organiser for the W.G.A., gave a most interesting address on China to members of Women’s Associations connected with the Pan-Pacific Women's Association. After a brief survey of China’s ancient civilisation, Mr Hely dealt with the development of China from 1840 to the present day giving an interesting account of the impact of Western Civilisation on China. In conclusion Mr Hely reminded his hearers of the enormous population of China —450,000,000 people, and asked them to- conceive the vast changes that must inevitably follow the industrialisation of such an immense population. The address was followed by a discussion, at the conclusion of which Miss Lois McGregor expressed the appreciation of the meeting for the thought provoking address given by Mr Hely.
