MAURICEVILLE WEST

PIG COMPETITION AN OUTSTANDING LITTER. (“Times-Age” Special.) Very keen interest is being taken by members of the local Pig Club in the recording of litters by the district supervisor (Mr. E. P. Nielsen) for the bacon competition to be held at the Palmerston North Winter Show. An exceptionally fine litter was weighed at Mr. T. J. Manihera’s farm, the total weight at eight weeks being 4951 b. for twelve pigs, an average of 41.251 b. This litter is the best Mr. Neilsen has recorded to date in the whole of the Wellington district. Personal Items. Mrs J. Sinclair and family, of Christchurch, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Nielsen. Mrs. A. D. Kerr and family, of Rangikura, have returned home after staying with Mrs. Kerr’s mother, Mrs. Mortensen. Miss K. McKay, of Feilding, is staying with relatives here. Miss R. Goddard, of Hukanui. is spending the school vacation as the guest of Mrs. R. Palmer. Mrs. G. Mcßae, accompanied by Miss Nola Nielsen, are spending the school holidays in Christchurch. A very old resident of the district, who recently celebrated her 84th birthday, Mrs. Anderson, is still enjoying good health. Six of her family of ten are still living. Three of her sons fought in the Great War, one having been killed.
