The ball held in the King’s Theatre last evening by the local fire brigade was a marked success and the brigade should be well pleased with the result of the committee’s efforts. The ladies especially are to be complimented on the part they played in connection with the function. There was a large attendance of dancers from all over the district and a very enjoyable time was spent. The takings, including donations, are most satisfactory, and'it is expected that the effort to date will realise about £7O. The amount from the competitions that are still to be dealt with is expected to make up the sum required for the purchase of new uniforms. The committee is very well satisfied with the result. Foreman J. Churchouse and Fireman L. M. Clark were M.’sC.. and they carried out their duties in an efficient manner. The music was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Mrs. V. L. Robinson, Messrs.l D. Irwin, T. Udy and H. Morelle.
