DISTRICT COMMITTEE MEETS.

CO-ORDINATION OF SPORTS’ ACTIVITIES.

A meeting of the District Physical Welfare Committee covering the Masterton Borough and Masterton, Mauriceville and Castlepoint County areas was held last night. Mr T. Jordan being in the chair. There were also present: Messrs E. M. Hodder, J. C. D. Mackley. P. F. Fagan and G. T. O’Hara Smith (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Miss Donald and Messrs W. H. Saunders, C. E. Rogers, S. Schofield, E. W. Cheetham and R. E. G. Lee.

It was decided to call a meeting on Thursday, September 7, in the Council Chambers, inviting all cultural and sporting organisations to send representatives to discuss further the Government’s suggestion of Recreation Week for co-ordination of all outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities such as music, dramatic and hobby shows. The proposed date of the Recreation Week was from September 29 to October 7.

Representatives attending the forthcoming meeting on September 7 are asked to endeavour to bring to the meeting suggestions as to how the objective may be featured in regard to their particular sport or activity.
