BRILLIANT COLOURS

NEW SEASON’S FABRICS MANY ENTRANCING DISPLAYS.

I > REATH-TAKING in their vivid splendour, the new Spring and Summer fabrics at the W.F.C.A. are this year almost wholly British made. Cottons. Silks. Rayons—all are really gorgeous, in every type of modern design. The new season’s trend is definitely towards more vivid colourings and more striking motifs in design. Proudly the assistants claim that the current display is the greatest the W.F.C.A. have ever had. The new-styled cottons which are so popular for beach and play suits show the new trend most clearly. Cotton takes on a new use in these new styles, so different and so dainty. British manufacturers have brought all the glory of brightness into their new cotton motifs though retaining all the quality of this previously purely utilitarian material. "Jerseylaine,” an imitation woollen fabric, will capture the fancy of every woman, as a good-wearing, crease-re-sisting material. In tones and check to match, the all-British fabric opens new avenues for home-dressmakers to exploit with the aid of the remarkably varied and useful Academy patterns stocked by the W.F.C.A.. Wairarapa women should certainly be well and daintily dressed this summer. Throughout the whole range of art silks, the tones of pinks and prunes occur. Those colours, dominant in winter fabrics appear as delicate shadings in every art silk design, carrying forward to the lighter and brighter shades of summer, the warmth of winter’s tones. Remarkable, too, the beautiful floral designs on the bordered silk linens made to give grace and smartness to the new swing skirts. Graduated in design, skirts made from this material will carry the heavy tonings and the larger designs in the flare, as they swing gracefully from the hips of the “modern miss.” But even more striking are some new fabrics made specially for pleated skirts of this nature. Again in striking colours and in designs of almost inexplicable variety, when made up they can be pleated to the actual pattern and when stitched, flare naturally at the bottom of the swinging skirt. In the showroom, frocks made from these beautiful materials can be seen to advantage. The new season’s designs of shirred waists and dirndl effect will make the girl of this summer truly joyous to behold. The grace of ’ youth and beauty is truly enhanced by these attractive fashions and the range of either frocks or fabrics at the W.F.C.A. will provide Miss Wairarapa with unending joy in making her selection. But no visit to the W.F.C.A. would be complete without an inspection of their new, exclusive robe lengths. In “one only” pattern, these gorgeous fabrics cannot be duplicated, thus giving their wearer the pride of exclusiveness in addition to the joy of wearing beautiful materials beautifully.
