FEILDING SALE. VERY BUOYANT TONE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 25. A very buoyant tone prevailed at the Feilding sale held today, cattle and sheep selling at rates fully firm on those of last week. Mutton values were up by about 3s a head and beef also showed an advance. Fat sheep: An excellent quality entry of lambs and mutton came in .for keen competition from freezing interests and city butchers, prices advancing considerably. Extra prime lambs made 24s to 25s Bd, prime 21s to 23s Gd. average 18s to 20s lOd, unfinished 15s to 17s Gd; extra prime wethers. 32s to 33s 6d. prime 28s Gd to 30s. lighter 26s to 27s Gd, unfinished 22s 6d to 25s 8cl: extra prime ewes 28s Gd to 31s, second quality 25s Gd to 27s Gd, lighter 22s Gd to 255, others from 17s 9d. Store sheep: A very light entry of store sheep made late rates, the chief attraction being a few pens of ewe hoggets. Wether hoggets were in good supply, with quality sorts selling well. Best ewe hoggets made 25s lOd to 275, second grade 22s to 23s 7d, backward from 18s lOd; well-grown wether hoggets 13s Gd to 15s 2d, smaller Ils 3d to 13s, backward 7s 7d to 10s 9d; small m.s. wether hoggets Gs; fair lines of two-tooth ewes 24s lOd to 25s 6d. mixed ages 19s; aged ewes Ils 2d; small black-face hoggets, 8s lid to 11s. Store cattle: Not many head of store cattle were on offer and prices showed little change, there being every indication that there will be little movement in cattle prices till the spring fairs of next month. Empty A.A. cows made £3 7s Gd; 20-month A.A. steers £4 9s, yearling £3 3s; good yearling Jersey heifers £2 15s to £3 15s; empty heifers £3 7s to £3 Ils; works’ cows, heavy £3 to £3 12s Gd, others £2 to £2 17s Gd; small Jersey steers £3 2s Gd. Fat cattle: Some excellent quality female beef was yarded and under keen competition prices showed a decided rise, prime lines going up about 5s a 1001 b. Prime quality vealers met with a keen sale. Prime finished A.A. cows made £8 10s to £9 10s, second grade £G 15s to £7 15s, unfinished £5 to £6 10s; prime quality Hereford heifers £8 18s to £lO. second grade £6 12s 6d to £7 15s, light £5 7s Gd to £G 7s 6d: light steers £9 10s; prime finished vealers £3 10s to £4 15s, lighter £1 12s Gd to £2 15s; ex-dairy cows £3 7s Gd to £5 15s.

Dairy cattle: Outside buyers again made the market strong for early calving heifers and cows, prices being about £1 up on those of last week. The quality, generally, was good and the selection large. Select heifers nearing drop made £l3 5s to £l4, second grade £9 10s to £ll 10s, later calvers £7 to £9 ss. backward £4 15s to £6 15s; heifers in milk £8 to £9; choice springing cows £lO to £ll 15s, second quality £8 10s to £9 10s, others from £5 10s; cows in milk £4 5s to £7 10s. Pigs: A strong sale took place for all pigs, prices being on a high level. Good weaners made 21s, smaller 17s 6d; slips 27s Gd to 29s 6d; porkers 43s Gd to 445. CARTERTON SALE. PRICES WELL UP TO LATE RATES. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —A good yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday and was offered to a large attendance. All classes of stock sold well up to late rates and a total clearance was effected as follows: — Sheep: Fat wethers, to 26s Gd; fat ewes, 18s to 21s; fat hoggets, 17s, 19s to 245; 2-th wethers, 15s 3d to 17s; wether hoggets, 12s Gd; to 13s; b.f. hoggets, to 12s I'd. Cattle: Jersey heifers on drop, £7 to £9-15s; Jersey cows on drop, G.S., £8 to £l2; springing heifers, £4 to £6 15s; fat heifers, £4 10s to £G ss; fat cows, £4 to £5; cows and calves, to £3 12s; forward cows, £2 10s to £3 16s; store cows, 30s to £2 8s; cull cows, 15s to 28s.

Pigs: Weaners (Good), 19s to 235; weaners (medium). 15s to 13s 6d; weaners (small), 6s Gd to 14s; slips, 20s to 245; store pigs, 25s to 30s; light porkers, 32s to 375; porkers, 38s to £2 Ils; choppers, to £2 15s.
