The success of the Wairarapa primary schools team in the recent quadrangular tournament was very pleasing to Eketahuna as one of the team, Bob Capes, is an Eketahuna school boy. The match between the Eketahuna County and the Tarawa Power Board will take place on Saturday afternoon. The proceeds from the game will be handed to the Borough Council towards its Centennial Fund. Public interest in the match is very keen and it is anticipated that. there will be a big gate. Both teams are training hard. Each side has at least one recognised player. The County will have the services of W. Twentyman, and the Power Board D. Failover. Both of these players represented Bush on the recent southern tour. The. Power Board team is said to be on the “light” side but has a few “live wires” capable of effecting a “transformation” and putting its side at the top of the “pole.” The County team contains many players of “yesterday” who will be very tired “tomorrow.” On the “surface” their “formation” seems “patchy” but they say that the result of the game is already “sealed.” BUSH REP. TEAM. The Bush representative team returned from its southern tour on Tuesday. The players consider that they did well against the sides which they met. They all speak in glowing terms of the hospitality extended to them and of the fine sporting spirit in which all the games were played. Athol Mahoney demonstrated on the tour that he has lost none of his old-time dash and it would not be surprising to find him figuring in the trial games to be played next month. One question that was asked many times of the Bush team was: “Where is Bush?” The general belief seems to be that Bush is somewhere on the West Coast.
It is interesting to record that the Bush Rugby Union is one of the original members of the New Zealand Rugby Union. A glance at the New Zealand Rugby Union handbook also reveals the fact that the colours of the Bush are white but it must be many years since such was the case. EKETAHUNA SALE DAIRY STOCK IN DEMAND. At the Eketahuna stock sale yesterday pigs met with a ready sale at late rates, and dairy stock were also in demand.
