STATE THEATRE
“TAIL SPIN." Acclaimed by famous pilots as being the finest aviation picture filmed in a decade, and featuring some of the most thrilling flying ever seen in motion pictures, “Tail Spin,” 20th Century-Fox’s I story of three women of the sky, will be shown at the State Theatre to- • night. Here, for the first time, in what is reported to be a smashing romantic melodrama of adventure, is told the breathless story of those women who fly, the thrills that come with their split-second escapes and the heartthrobs behind their spectacular lives. In the star roles are Alice Faye, as Trixie, who flies for the money that’s I in it and because it’s danger she’s afI ter; Constance Bennett, as Gerry, who | flies because she feels the sky’s the I place to hide from love; and Nancy Kelly, as Lois, who flies because it brings her closer to her husband to whom flying means so much. This is the first time the three stars have appeared together and it is said by those who have seen the film, that rarely has such a perfect combination been seen on the screen. The talent of each star is ideally suited to the character she is called upon to portray. Strangely enough, the roles which the girls play in “Tail Spin” are completely different from the type of part each has been associated with. That is, with the exception of Nancy Kelly.- Alice Faye first achieved stardom in musical comedy. Constance Bennett has long been recognised as the screen’s leading glamour girl. In this film they are seen in the greatest dramatic roles of their careers. Nancy Kelly was hailed as a star immediately after her first screen role in “Submarine Patrol.” In her next film appearance she was seen as the wife of Jesse James in the picture which starred Tyrone Power in the title role. In addition to the stars, ’’Tail Spin” offers a fine supporting cast which features Joan Davis, Charles Farrell, Jane Wyman, Kane Richmond, Wally Vernon, Joan Valerie and Edward Norris.
