Y.M.C.A. AFFAIRS

MEETING OF DIRECTORS. TRIBUTE TO LATE MR DANIELL. The attendance of the last monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. was somewhat smaller than usual. Mr W. A, Clarke president, occupied the chair. Mr Clarke made reference to the passing of the late Mr C. E. Daniell. His personal memory of Mr Daniell extended over a period of about 50 years. Mr Clarke traced Mr Daniell’s connection with the Y.M.C.A. as president during some of the association’s most difficult years, and always as a keenly interested and loyal supporter. “In the passing of Mr Daniell." said Mr Clarke, “the Y.M.C.A. has lost a very great friend." Members of the directorate stood in silence as a mark cl' respect to the deceased. The General Secretary presented the report and the financial statement for the month of July. Accounts amounting to £l7 were passed. The resignation from the board of Mr G. R. Beccrcft was received with regret and appreciative reference was made to Mr Beecroft's support and assistance for a number of years past. An invitation was received from the Masterton Savage Club 1o attend a function and Messrs Clarke and Ross were appointed to represent the association at the Club's Korero, on September 9. LADIES' AUXILIARY. Eleven ladies attended the monthly meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. President. Mrs G. R. Eeecroft, was in the chair. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs P. R. Welch in her unfortunate illness. Arrangements were made for a Fancy Dress Children's Party, to oe held in the Hall, on Friday, September 15. Every effort is being made to ensure a highly successful function and a large attendance is anticipated. It was decided to hold the next of the popular card evening on Monday. September 4. At the close of the meeting, an enjoyable afternoon tea was served by the ladies. )
