PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Ron. Payne, of the stall' of Messrs A. H. Herbert & Co., left for Wellington at the weekend where he has secured a position. He has been succeeded by Mr P. Holford. Mr A. L. Wilson and Mrs Wilson of Eketahuna are visiting Taihape. Mr and Mrs L. Cooper, of Rotorua, have been visiting this district. Constable L. W. C. Le Comte, of the Pahiatua police force, is at present on relieving duty in Eketahuna. BYRNE SHIELD WIN FOR MAKOMAKO. The Eketahuna Miniature Rifle Club team met Makomako in a Byrne Shield fixture last night on the Eketahuna range. The match resulted in a -win for Makomako by 33 points. The scores were as follow: —

FAREWELL GATHERING PRESENTATION TO MR MASON Members of the Post Office staff met last Saturday evening to say farewell to Mr W. Mason'of the exchange staff who has been promoted to acting cadet Telegraph School, Auckland. Mr Boyes, postmaster, who presented Mr Mason on behalf of his fellow officers, with a “pipe and pouch” said that it did not seem so very long ago since Mr Mason started as a message boy. He was pleased to see that in so short a period through study and diligence in respect to his particular work, Mr Mason had obtained his promotion. He congratulated Mr Mason and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr Gray, supervise!’, and Messrs Mountjoy and O'Regan also added their congratulations and good wishes. Mr Mason suitably replied. Personal. Mr W. Mason left for Auckland on Monday. Mr Dunham, of Pongaroa, who will take up Mr Mason’s duty at the Post Office, will arrive on Wednesday.
