QUESTION OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY. By Telegraph—P: ess Association—Copyright. (Received This Day. 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, August 22. A. delegate to the conference of the National Union of Railwaymen, representing 36.000 employees, decided not to participate in the strike but to resubmit the claim for a wage of £2 10s a week to a national tribunal. There is no co-operation between the society and the union. The Ministry of Labour is likely to prohibit the withdrawal of workers, who number 56.000. in view of a possible national emergency.
