“FUNZ=A=POPPIN”
REGENT THEATRE TONIGHT. “Funz-a-Poppin,” an outstanding allAmerican variety show coming direct from Broadway will be presented at the Regent Theatre tonight. Beautiful dancing girls, songs and music, plenty of humour in burlesque and repartee, and several very good specialty acts go a long way towards making the show the success it is. Bobby Morris is as quick with his wisecracks and as nippy on his feet as ever, and is a most popular comedian. Harry Ross and Eddie Edwards, too, with their snappy wit, do much to keep the house in a state of merriment, and the miming of Bozo Snyder is superb. The Van twins, dainty dancers who perform alone and with the ballet, know their art well, and Jack Bickel’s eccentric dancing displays are well worth seeing. A charming little entertainer with a sweet voice is Elsa Lang with her partner Murray Green. Loretta Grey, "The Pepper Pol” comedienne, gives a lively air to the show. There is a splendid ballet of American girls, and its precision, versatility, and appearance are at all times very pleasing. The ballet has plenty to do, but it is always full of pep. A feature which will appeal to all is the clever act of the Carr brothers, foot and hand balancers, whose agility and strength are amazing. Theirs is one of the most popular parts of the show. One of the finest items is Salici’s Parisian Puppets, who give a show on their own and keep the audience amused and thrilled.
