WATERS RECEDING
POSITION IN WAIRARAPA
MINOR FLOODING REPORTED
Although further rain fell in the Wairarapa last night reports from various parts of the district this morning indicate that the flooded rivers are now receding. There was no water over the main highway near the Waiohine River this morning, the flood having lessened during the night, though the river appeared to be rising again. Portion ol the Ahiaruhe Soldiers' Settlement was inundated to a depth of about a loo’ last night, but the water there was likewise reported to be going down this morning.
No serious flooding is reported Iron, other parts of the district, nor du any
roads appear to be affected by slips or washouts.
The Waipoua River was well flooded, but everything was satisfactory as far as the recent stopbank work was concerned in ’he borough area.
