Following upon the ex parte application on behalf of the four accused Chinese in Tientsin, Mr Justice Cassols approved the issue of a writ of habeas corpus, returnable on August 22, directed to the Foreign Secretary, the Consul-General in Tientsin, the chairman of the British Municiptfl Council in Tientsin and the gaoler of the British prison. The granting of the summons means that the habeas corpus proceedings will now occur in England instead of at Shanghai.
