HASTINGS HOLD=UP
TWO ARRESTS EFFECTED. YOUNG MEN APPREHENDED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS. August 17. Subsequent to intensive police investigation yesterday and today about the armed hold-up in Hastings on Tuesday night, two arrests were made tonight. Two young mon were apprehended, one in Waipukurau and the other shortly afterward in Hastings. The arrests were made by Detective H. L. Campin and Constable W. S. Craigie, who have been following the ease from the beginning.
A service station proprietor, Albert Arthur Wilson, was attacked in his promises in Hastings on Tuesday night by two men. who produced a revolver and said, "This is a stick-up. We want your cash." Mr Wilson was forced back into his office. One of the men struck him on the head with a blunt instrument when he tried to gain possession of the revolver. In a violent struggle with the intruders, Mr Wilson knocked the revolver from one of the assailants, the police later taking possession of the weapon. A message last night said that Mr -Wilson had now practically recovered from his injuries.
