NOT INTENDED

BLOCKADE OF HONG KONG JAPANESE ADMIRALTY STATEMENT. BRITISH GUNBOATS POSTED AT KOWLOON. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. TOKIO, August 17. An Admiralty spokesman today said that Japan does not intend to blockade Hong Kong, which is not necessary. Japan does not intend to have fresh international complications with a friendly Power. The army aimed to put down the irregulars in Kwantung and not the British leased territory in Kowloon.

It is learned from Hong Kong that the British gunboats Cicala and Moth have taken up stations on each side of the Kowloon Peninsula.
