GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS LADIES’ COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special ) Play in the first qualifying round of the senior and junior championship and an L.G.U. medal round and a contest for Mrs G. Brown’s trophy, will be decided on the Taratahi links on Saturday by the lady members, the draw being: — No. 11 tee: Mrs Callender and Mrs Orr; Mrs Booth and Miss Welch; Mrs Candy and Miss Berrill; Miss M. Campbell and Mrs Moroney; Mrs Colson and Miss Smart; Mrs Harrington and Mrs Ross; Mrs Murray and Miss N. Renall. No. 9 tee: Miss Knutson and Miss P. Renall: Mrs Forbes and Mrs M. Campbell; Mrs Riggs and Miss Armstrong; Mrs Robinson and Miss Lamb; Miss J. Booth, and Mrs R. N. Campbell. No. 8 tee: Miss I. Corlett and Miss Freer; Mrs Goodin and Miss Stevens; Mrs Gustofson and Miss J. Orr; Mijs Peters, V. Corlett and Miss B. Crawlev. Miss V. and I. Corlett will be in charge of afternoon tea. CARTERTON v. MARTINBOROUGH. A friendly match was played on the Taratahi links between the Carterton and Martinborough ladies and after a most pleasant afternoon's play ended in a win for Carterton by three games. The visitors were hospitably entertained. The result of games is as under, Martinborough players mentioned first in every instance: — Miss Hancox halved with Mrs Callender; Mrs Baker lost to Mrs Booth; Mrs Moore lost to Miss Welch; Mrs Marslett lost to Mrs W. Moroney; Mrs Parsons beat Mrs Colson; Mrs Baker beat Miss N. Renall; Miss Jury lost to Miss P. Renall; Miss lost to Miss T. Anderson; Miss Kershaw lost to Miss J. Booth; Miss Harding halved with Mrs R. N. Campbell. MEN’S GAMES.

Beaven; Harry and S. Booth; Tankersley and S. Hill. Personal. Mrs H. H. Trapp (nee Noeline Stubbs), of Manley, New South Wales, arrived by the Awatea this morning at Wellington. Mrs Stubbs went to Wellington on Tuesday to meet her daughter upon arrival. Constable and Mrs Watson, who have been to the South Island on holiday, have returned to Carterton. Mr W. B. Allen, of Clareville, will celebrate his 92nd birthday on Saturday next and in honour of the event a social evening will be held in the Band Room. Good Percentage of Lambs. Despite the fact that the recent bad weather, with heavy .snowfalls had a bad effect upon very early lambs, the lambing season is now proceeding satisfactorily. Many farmers report a goou percentage. Hockey Dance. In our advertising columns it is announced that the Hinemoa Ladies’ Hockey Club will be holding their postponed dance in the Band Room on Monday evening next.
