PORT BOWEN

STERN SWINGING OUT FROM SHORE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, August 16. The Port Bowen, which moved 150 feet in a southerly direction along the beach on Monday night, moved another 16 feet last night. At high tide today the stern of the steamer was swinging from the shore outward for a distance of at least 20 feet. Preparation is. being made to fix a long, heavy cable from the stern io the shore in a northerly direction, so as to stop the swinging of the steamer, and. if possible, prevent further movement down the coast. About 15 feet of sand has been deposited between the Port Bowen and the beach.
